!! Reports of leaks at the troubled #SiteC dam in NE BC
Awaiting better video but here's a leak from a penstock (dam intake pipe). It's -30C there but that's typical in Ft St John & dam should be able to withstand that.

Awaiting confirmation of this. BC Hydro has been asked on X to confirm.
Here's another mention the penstock leak. It sounds as if BC Hydro will have to shut the gate at the top on the penstock that’s leaking and do a repair of some sort. Challenging.

Ruptured penstock owned by Yuba County Water Agency takes out 350 MW powerhouse and transformer station on north fork of the Yuba river. Deposits mud and silt downstream. Not sure it makes it to spawning habitat as there's a smaller dam downstream.

A sudden drop in flow in the lower Yuba (following shutoff of the penstock and power station?) may have had adverse impacts on salmon fry downstream.

In addition, SYRCL’s Fisheries Restoration Program Manager surveyed reaches of the lower Yuba River and documented numerous dead salmon fry. This mortality is most likely a result of the sudden drop in flows in the lower Yuba resulting from power loss at New Colegate, not water quality.
