"Crimson Dominatrix" from the Action Figures comic series promotional art by Jason Peterson (comic books, 1995)
.
30 years ago Crimson Dominatrix would make her first appearance in Penthouse Comix Issue #6, released March 1, 1995. The character would be featured in a preview for the spin-off comic magazine, Penthouse Men's Adventure Comix, as part of the super-team "Action Figures" by the late Jason Pearson

Penthouse Comix holds a unique place in pop culture history. Produced by Penthouse magazine at the height of the 1990s adult comics boom, it launched with the money and clout to hire top flight comic and fantasy artists to produce work that the mainstream comic book industry would never dare. Labeled "adults only" but marketed to mainstream comic book readers, It was sold at both comic shops and newsstands.

Between Penthouse Comix and Penthouse Men's Adventure Comix, Crimson Dominatrix would make 10 appearances and even be illustrated by esteemed artists such as Boris Vallejo and Adam Hughes

The American edition of the Penthouse Comix line would burn brightly but briefly, sputtering out in 1998. It appears the Crimson Dominatrix also hung up her whip when it folded. To my knowledge, the character has yet to make another appearance.

The book would be rebooted 30 years later in 2024 as Penthouse Comics. This run would be even briefer, ending the following year without a return of the character.

Penthouse Comix no. 5 - Cover by Kevin Nowlan

Scion was an unusual strip, dealing with Soviet Russian Super Spies. It was however beautifully drawn and rendered by Kevin Nowlan until the stories got too much for him to continue.

Mark was one of the solid mainstays of Penthouse Comix and probably the most frequent contributor to the magazine. A fantastic artist and photographer.
