Babies exposed to SARS-CoV-2 before birth showed typical development at 12 months, but clinician testing at 22 months found 52% scored below expected in at least one area, most often language.

A new study of 142 babies shows exposure to SARS-CoV-2 during pregnancy may be associated with developmental delays that become evident at 22 months, despite not being detected at 12 months. Language delay was the most common finding.

Also, it's a weird comparison anyway, as cerebral palsy is largely understood to be a severe complication of HIE and other perinatal brain injuries. It's not a mystery, and as perinatology improves, rates will likely go down on their own.

Our latest study shows that preterms with early true PH face higher mortality. A staggering 55% vs 11% & survivors show persistent cardiac dysfunction @ 36 wks. These findings underscore the urgent need for early echocardiographic screening for all prems.
