Thinking about burnout during permacrises.
Maybe, but I saw someone on here make the point today that the last 6yrs have been some of the most stressful that NA had seen, collectively, in our lifetimes, and that’s the foundation on top of which our own life stresses pile. Maybe it doesn’t take much extra rn ☹️

Since Jan2020 rents have shot up by £300 a month, up 31%, over 2.5x the rate of growth in the preceding 5 years (12% growth)

Very strange that some think "centrist" is a positive when 1. the world is facing a growing number of permacrises (starting with climate) that require radical action, 2. swing voters everywhere are frustrated with the status quo, and 3. a party's core voters presumably prefer that party's policies.
Seen from abroad it's hard to make sense of what happened to Starmer. Big majority, centrist, fairly united party, no obvious blunders -- and somehow it went off the rail in just a few years. Political scientists will have their work cut out on this one.

I agree the good stuff isn't being communicated well enough. I suppose in part because of Number 10 permacrises but also because much of the press will report the controversial bits for clicks and money, meaning that the premise of the policy doesn't break through beyond the clickbait headlines?

... and so intoxicating to those who don't like change. It's also why they are so bad in a crisis. They don't ever want to solve a crisis, they want to use it to reshape things, to push fear and hate, so the crises escalate. But, eventually, people burn out and have enough of permacrises.

I don't disagree with any of that, but I think you underestimate how much terms like 'housing crisis' have been deliberately stripped of context by successive governments. It's one of many permacrises that most people have just accepted as inevitable b/c the solutions have been made inconceivable.
