#perpetual-contracts
FYI for writers: The standard contracts for the SFF space are the SFWA model contracts. None of these contracts include perpetual rights grants to the publisher without royalties and reversion. This is true even for reprints and even for non-exclusive rights grants.

Hand your private finances over to an impulsive, inept, drugged-out perpetual liar, who lives off of federal grants and contracts, who illegally raided our public funds, stole our private data, who canceled our federal programs and services, and blows up rockets.

Cool.

This morning I spoke to RNZ about the problem of insecure work at our universities. Research staff across the country are made to work under perpetual fixed-term contracts with no clear route to secure jobs.

What's driving the growth of "Frankenjobs" in our universities?
Researchers working in the university sector say their fixed term contracts are more like "Frankenjobs", pieced together with short term funding and limited hours.

A perpetual 9th grade boy with unlimited money, sucking the teat of US Gov contracts while doling out favors to our enemy dictators, AND whose biggest sexual thrill seems to be owning the libs.

There is no good way to look at the mergers and the furthering monopolisation of entertainment but this is echoing the studio system of the 1920s/30s where 5 fucking studios made all the movies and owned people in perpetual contracts so take comfort one day all these people will be dead

corporate welfare of the highest order, perpetual contracts mostly at public expense, wage theft from civil service employees as well as from faculty, and double dip grift (ala Huron). depraved cannibalism.
People working in universities know a lot of the work that makes the organization function is outsourced to for-profit companies (catering, landscaping) or runs on platforms requiring payments to such companies: Workday, Canvas, Microsoft, Zoom.

This thread will be for less obvious examples. 1/

READ YOUR CONTRACTS.

One of the biggest traps in modern music contracts is the perpetual term. This means you’ll never fully own your records again.

Your catalogue is your pension. Understand exactly what rights you’re giving away, for how long, and under what conditions.

The reason these contracts get so big is that the teams can afford it, and they're in a perpetual bidding war. No way to fix that except to make all their revenues smaller and all their costs higher

Ah, excellent. DOGE is creating vendor lock-in for our most important government systems, ensuring their friends have perpetual revenues from the government.

No-bid contracts don't sound very efficient.
