I have a pet mantis named Scyther. I let him out to hang out with me the other day and took these pictures of him on my orchid. Such a cool little creature I've enjoyed learning to take care of.

In green/purple mix Rainbow Stag Beetles, just a bit of blue can be made out at certain angles. I wonder if this trait will carry over to their offspring?

The #rainbowstagbeetle larvae have been growing steadily. 6 months ago this grub would have easily fit on top of my thumbnail. In another 6 months, they will begin their transformation into a beetle.

These Rainbow Stag Beetles were born from a pairing between a wild-type female and a 'red' morph male. The red genes show very prominently in these offspring!

What can happen is a tiny larva can burrow inside a larger chunk of wood, and its difficult to monitor the animal's growth and health should it do so.
