Venezuela has like 2000 generals and allows its higher ranking officers to seperately sell petrolium and oil to foreign customers so they don't try to overthrow Maduro. This kind of the opposite of what a dictatorship should do to consolidate power.

When key industries are a major part of US domination (petrolium, air travel, etc), it's an unspoken truth that the state protects them from competition by making alternatives either illegal or untenable.

This administration is actually hastening the transition to using less petrolium products, by inadvertently driving up the price of oil. Trying to manipulate things they do not understand has been a lesson in what not to do, but they don't get it.
