It’s a rad lens, the oldest I’ve ever shot with (1870s-80s), and also the first petzval I’ve tried. The gg is ~8x8 and I was also previously trying to force big full frame square images out of it; but I think I’ve gotta stick with the max of 5x7 that the gg is actually marked for, like this.

Shadows of the Cloister
A sturdy poet holds a sputtering lantern amidst the towering gothic ruins of a collapsed abbey. Shot on orthochromatic black-and-white film stock, his ruddy complexion renders hauntingly dark. The swirling optical distortion of an uncoated Petzval lens, heavy grain, and pronounced halation around the lantern create an authentic 1910s cinematic atmosphere.

Looking into the constellation Lacerta for 5 hrs and you end up with quite the star field. I just find this amazing. This is through the local Milky Way disk and into the outer arm regions, Wow! There are are over 200,000 stars in this one image.
