Hey amateur woodworkers of Blooski, here's the last thing I made for a dear friend. It's made from reclaimed oak with a Detroit Pewabic tile. Hopefully it inspires the next great American novel... #woodworking #reclaimed #doesblueskydohastags

One of my favorite things is when I get to catalog stuff from Michigan and rep our state. Typically it's books, but today it was two lots of Pewabic pottery from Detroit which makes the prettiest damn things ever.

Pewabic Tile workers have been trying to unionize and someone made a shady Instagram page attacking their union organizing activity.

I’m curious @dianah.bsky.social and others, in the (likely) event that’s someone internally, would that be illegal?

Finally picked up my tiles from a Pewabic glazing workshop a few weeks ago. Definitely some things I’d change, but I’m mostly happy with the results!

@mightyoaklover.bsky.social is that Pewabic tile in your profile photo? Pewabic has a place in my heart; I worked there in the late 80s-early ‘90s

Pewabic Pottery: Still handcrafted in Detroit – DW – 08/01/2025
For over 120 years, a tiny pottery manufacture in Detroit has been turning clay into durable handicraft, proving that the city is more than just fast-paced assembly lines and Motown music.

Pewabic Pottery is very cool! They made the tiles used in the National Cathedral and in many of the old mansions around the U.S. Located in Detroit, you can visit the showroom that still has an active artists' studio attached to it. It really is a treasure!

And vintage/local artisan gift shop - heliumstudio.square.site

Pewabic maybe doesn’t realize they’re in danger of pulling a Target by associating their brand with creepy anti union sentiment
was just going to post about this. really embarrassing
