#pharmacogenomics
lol someone just tried to quote post drag me insisting that psychiatrists get four years of extensive training in med school on pharmacology and pharmacogenomics and lol. Lmao. Lmfao.

They usually know even less about pharmacokinetics, which is a subset of pharmacology, or pharmacogenomics, which is a subset of pharmacokinetics. If they know anything, it will be a hazy, half-recalled memory of one two-week unit in their ONE CLASS on the topic.

So now we are going to refer to any healthcare DEI initiatives as "personalized medicine" and "pharmacogenomics," right?
February 2, 2025 at 8:17 PM
The words you want are "pharmacogenomics testing"!
May 6, 2026 at 5:20 AM
the people mad at academic jargon never start culture wars over my professors talking about how "pharmacogenomics allows us to characterize the impact of a heterozygous mutation on glucuronidation" so idk, it's almost like people are mad about something else actually

--and not replacing it/replacing it with Tylenol, turmeric, and mindfulness. Which is a pity, because there's so much neat stuff that can be done with personalized pharmacogenomics now, but "alternative options" always, always means "we're replacing your only relief with this meditation app".

To some extent pharmacokinetics as a whole, but pharmacogenomics is the subset that addresses "some people respond weird to drugs and we're still figuring out why".

Oops!… I did it again 😉

I really think that in a hundred years we're going to look at todays drugs like we look back at patent medicine. "What do you mean they didn't tailor the medicine to the person's individual pharmacogenomics?"

I am SO TEMPTED to go back to school and do that PhD in pharmacology specializing in pharmacogenomics

The most upsetting UpSet plot from Adam Heterick's talk at #abacbs2025: only 2 genes are shared across these 8 organisations that provide guidance on pharmacogenomics 😭😭😱😱

The more I learn about pharmacogenomics, the more I wonder how we even have functioning drugs at all

Pharmacogenomics is becoming increasingly relevant to prescribing.

Our pharmacogenomics resource supports prescribers across all professions to understand how genetic variation can influence medicines and apply this knowledge in practice.
