We are basically like this in research already. Postdocs and PhD students growing plants, doing tissue culture, and pipetting, while AI chat bots doing the analyses, writing proposals and papers. Humans having to do the menial tasks, while AI chat bots took over the creative work.

NSF just cancelled ALL grants to Harvard researchers. That’s right - physics, astronomy, bio, CAREER - ALL. Professors won’t get paid. Postdocs won’t get paid. PhD students won’t get paid. This is insane!

There are ~40k postdocs in the US, according to the NIH. While PhD students generally have good support (their committees, external advisors, and classmates), the postdocs do not. To help with this, we're starting the 'Postdoc Night Science' club in Boston this Thursday! (1/3)

A Cloudflare co-founder launched the company due to OPT. This crushing fee probably means Zatlyn starts Cloudflare or another company elsewhere. Add in all the int’l PhD grads who stay for postdocs, often on OPT. Lots of US Nobel Prizes come that way.
