I completely understand why this has been necessary. But also watch out – two submissions per month could easily catch people out (e.g. PhD students and postdocs putting papers up before starting a job hunt). #MathSky

It really depends on discipline. In the sciences you might have a PI in charge of a group who is in theory all the PhD students' supervisors, but in fact it's the postdocs who do most of the work.

The most first supervisees I've had at once was 7 and that was too many. 2–3 at a time is optimal.

As a latina scholar who just finished her PhD is really upsetting how many -otherwise amazing- postdocs I'm passing of applying to bc it's in the US and I'm terrified that I'd move my whole life there just to be picked up and shipped to nowhere by ICE.

My wife got made associate chair for the grad program when she got tenure, and was stuck with that for about 5 years. I was lucky to dodge that sort of bullet but did get put on more hiring committees. Both of us started taking on more PhD students and postdocs. That trend has
