A compilation of photos of my Project Hail Mary themed birthday cake for this year. Text on the top of the cake reads "Happy Happy Happy". Rocky is celebrating with jazz hands and the party hat Grace made for him. The sides of the cake are lined with some of my favorite quotes from both the book and the movie. Black glitter gel dots on the plate represent astrophage. Red glitter gel dots on the top of the cake represent astrophage in infrared light. Happy Happy Happy -- Standard story for newcomers: Today is my birthday, and here is my cake. I decorate cakes as a hobby, including my own. My mother bakes and frosts it for me, then I get to have fun with it. If I didn’t, I’d get candy letters. I fell head over heels in love with Project Hail Mary this year, both the book and the film. I’m really happy with how Rocky turned out… this is the first time I’ve ever tried painting fondant of something other than an animated character. He’s a mix of painted gel food dye and food dye markers, lined with black glitter gel. I also thought writing the various quotes from the book and movie would be a lot easier than it ended up being but I forgot how soft fondant is, especially when working with a really fine tip food dye marker. The black on the plate is astrophage, and the red dots are astrophage in infrared light.
