child abuse begets authoritarians, who then see the world as a place where abuse is not only justified but necessary. that's why they keep using physical child abuse as metaphor!

Like no part of me is going "In a perfect world, we'd bring back physical media!" it's "in a perfect world, we'd kill DRM"

Boycott the World Cup. For your own physical safety.
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

Psychologists and psychiatrists call this "concrete thinking." It reflects an inability to engage in abstract thinking, and a strong propensity to think of all nouns as depicting physical objects.

It's the first way children begin to understand how to describe the world with words.

The evidence continues to mount. Trump is both physically and mentally incapable of discharging the duties of president of the United States. The sooner the 25th Amendment is invoked, or he is impeached, the safer America and the world will be.
His Physical and Mental Decline Are Linked
Trump's physical deterioration is accompanied by increasingly aggressive, chaotic, erratic, and irrational behavior. The

and does the U.S. state department have a metric for deciding who meets this bar?

and does it involve complex fractions?

and is there a physical test? a DNA test? calipers? maybe a pantone chart?

Strength training is political. We have a right-wing which has taken over physical fitness spaces, and hijacked “warrior culture”.

We need a muscular progressivist visions. We need to be strong to build the world we want.

Maybe I can help. Vaccines are a product of natural sciences that study unchanging physical properties and while imperfect, are the best chance we have at understanding the world around us. Economics, however, is simply astrology for pedophiles

very tired of pretending that dismissing modern economics is somehow more reasonable than dismissing vaccines. if you’re not an expert, you don’t get to pick and choose parts of a field to believe! you have no way to tell between legitimate and illegitimate results in that field!

It's really an issue that I much prefer the world where you support art by purchasing physical media but dislike having to own physical media.
What’s particularly interesting about this chart is this is also a part of why shows cost so much now. Artists used to tour as loss leaders to sell records. Now it’s the the reverse to the extreme. It’s the only place they make revenue and even then, really depends on a lot of factors
Can the arts business model survive AI? Perhaps the best guide is to look at how the arts survived past tech revolutions

Take music—internet piracy and then streaming killed the lucrative CD market, but musicians mostly saved their jobs by focusing much more on live concerts

We have had stable, professional, vouchsafed information about the physical & economic world for so long that we entirely take it for granted. It's going to be truly wild to operate in a world where quite literally no one knows for sure what is happening, where there is no fact of the matter.
