#phytates
tastes like fruity granola. the calcium citrate + chia + fats control lemon's acidity, leaving its flavor profile only

phytates still present a problem.

u did not ask for advice but based on ur tone, im going to give u some!!

iron does not absorb well if you've had phytates (in whole grains/legumes), polyphenols/tannins (in tea/coffee/cocoa), calcium (dairy), or oxalates (in spinach, other veg). take it on an empty stomach with a vitamin c tablet.

The fun thing: it actually has plenty of iron, but it's packaged in a way that is hard to absorb due to the phytates.

Angela reminded me I even know how to alkaline-bath acorns to consumption 😂

Iron is absorbed better when paired with vitamin C
Certain common habits can drastically reduce how much iron your body actually absorbs. Consuming plant-based staples like whole grains, legumes, and nuts introduces phytates, which bind iron and inhibit its uptake. Drinking tea or coffee with meals adds polyphenols that further block absorption, while calcium from dairy can compete with iron for uptake in the gut. Getting enough iron isn’t just about how much you eat or supplement, it’s about how much your body actually absorbs.

Oh no, I’ve only got a year to go! How has my body not been thoroughly ravaged by oxalates, phytates and SeEd OiLs yet, though?

According to the “new science” we should be super fucking dead 😂

Chickpeas are powerful legumes that can help fight cancer, support cardiovascular health, and contribute to healthy weight loss and improved digestion.

But critics tell us they’re high in phytates, cause gas and bloating, and are often contaminated with glyphosate.

Hey, man… You need to pound something like .7 kilos of liver daily in order to not get scurvy on a carnivore dumb-et, and that toxins-filtering organ needs a LOT of dressing-up, OK?

It’s not like they can eat onions! PhYtAtEs, dude!

I'm sorry.🫂🫂🫂 Did your doctor tell you a completely empty stomach? You may want to ask since it causes upset. Technically you can take it with small amounts of food or right after you eat. The big problem is food high in calcium & phytates. So dairy, spinach, whole grains, brans.

Curious about #carnivorediet?

Maybe it’s time to take a critical look at the “experts” pushing this philosophy.

None of them have academic backgrounds in the fields of cardiology or paleontology, yet they act as though they do 🤡 🥩 🎪

Soaking your #beans will break down of antinutrients such phytates.
Enzymes released in the germination process will improve amino acids profile.
Sprouting will increase bioavailability making the #protein more digestible.

Thanks for sharing!
🥜 Nuts contain natural compounds like phytates and tannins, but they aren’t necessarily harmful. Soaking may reduce some of them, but 12+ hours of soaking isn’t generally required.

For most people, moderate portions of nuts can be part of a healthy, balanced diet. ❤️

Paul Saladino says plants don’t have bioavailable zinc? 😅

Tofu, lentils, seeds—all solid zinc sources. Yes, phytates affect absorption slightly, but balance is key.

Been vegan 12+ years. No zinc issues here. 💪

"what vegetarian foods have a lot of iron?"

"spinach and soybeans"

"oh ok so I can eat lots of those?"

"no, they have phytates and oxalates, you'll be completely unable to absorb their iron"

"so what do I do?"

"add vitamin C!"

"how much?"

"enough to get serious indigestion."...

I eat nuts almost every day. But you have to consider ALL the substances that nuts contain. They contain huge amounts of phytates, oxalates, tannins, and so on. To reduce these, you need to soak the nuts for about 12+ hours(water should also be changed). Then they’ll be good for you.

I actually add vitamin C (slightly more than recommended amount) to my mixes mostly to combat phytates. Iron and B12 are the tricky ones: I have to supplement chelated iron (nearly impossible to get good sources of plant iron) and B12 comes from nutritional yeast (I also have supplements)

Some influencers will have you believe that kale, spinach, oat milk & protein powder are bad for you.

Reality check: Phytates & oxalates aren’t an issue unless you already have gut problems.
