A few phytograms from my show Imago Solaris.
Process: phytograms (a cameraless process using plants, citric acid and washing soda) and scratched 16mm film in AfterEffects. The phytograms are of indigo leaves. I scratched a pattern from the scales of a glass fishplate. I digitized and reanimated it all adding a few effects.

More phytograms of witch hazel flowers, this time with a few mahonia blossoms and filbert catkins soaked in turmeric infused chemistry and left to develop on Kodak Vision 2 color negative film stock for 18 hours in the greenhouse. #phytography #experimentalanimation #cameralessfilm #ics_film

I took an online workshop to learn how to make Phytograms, which is a technique that uses the internal chemistry of plants for the creation of images on photographic emulsion. I need to make time to do more of these. I have hundreds of feet of unused film stock from my experimental film days.

Spent the weekend making “phytograms” using a cameraless filmmaking technique developed (ahem) by Artist Karel Doing. These frames are from 200 feet of 35mm BW film stock we processed.
