I remember CB did an ‘it deserved better’ post for PiB2 because it wasn’t making as much money as Avatar 2. But PiB2 was highly praised, made 5 times its budget, stayed in the top 5 for 2 months, is talked about constantly online, and was nominated for tons of awards; all the checkboxes of a hit.

Completely understandable - counterpoint tho: it’s good that PiB2 has a unique style that works better for its more serious fairytale tone, while Shrek retains the cartoony aesthetic to align more with its comedic tone.
