This has been a two-year labor of love and one of probably the most personal things I've ever written, as a queer Catholic who loves space (and Leonard Cohen). It was inspired by the "New Eden" episode of Discovery and Pike's complicated personal relationship with Earth religion, but along the way it evolved into a deep dive into some aspects of Vulcan culture that particularly fascinated me, and also somewhat unexpectedly became my version of a fix-it fic for the "Charades" episode of Strange New Worlds. Thank you so very much to all the enthusiastic readers who have followed this one religiously (PUN INTENDED) from the beginning and zoom right to the comments the minute a new chapter drops.
