Das Pilum ist zwar in der Herstellung aufwändiger als eine Schaumtorte, überzeugt aber in Hinischt auf Reichweite, Stabilität des Flugs und insbesondere Durchschlagskraft - insbesondere bei gepanzerten Gegnern.
Die Eignung im politischen Diskurs ist für beide Wurfobjekte umstritten.
