As we slowly reawaken after hibernation, we are pruning fig and mulberry trees at Pinnantak. Even though it’s been unseasonably warm here in Huchiun, winter pruning is less stressful on the trees and limits pest and disease exposure. We are looking forward to healthy new growth come Spring!

These beautiful wild onions pop up every Spring at Pinnantak! The flowers are especially tasty with a sweet onion and mild garlic flavor. We’re experimenting with infusing butter and olive oil, but the flowers make an easy topping to any salad. 😋
