There are lot of blue-collar jobs that women could do very well at, except for the sexism. I met a woman at a party awhile back who had been an electrician for a few years, but said she quit because she was sick of both customers and other contractors harassing her and treating her terribly

these assholes hate my city, they hate my bandmates who are trans and yaqui, they hate my sister who does a “man’s” job as a pipefitter, they hate horizon zero dawn and they hate du blonde, why would i give a single fuck about giving them the time of day? why would they want me to?
this always goes unmentioned in these dumb discourses: the books i read, the records i collect, the bands i go see, the art i appreciate, the TV or film i watch, the bars i hang out in and the people i hang out in them with? these people hate all that shit. what do we even have to talk about?
Serious question about the echo chamber: What *is* there to talk about with people who don’t believe in liberal democracy, honoring treaties, or state capacity beyond the ability to make libs sad and explode the occasional Iranian? From a foundational perspective, what do I have to work with here?

Something I keep thinking about in convos about 'when to leave' is that finances really ARE an insurmountable barrier for people, as are qualifications (e.g. 'digital nomad' visas are great, but what if you're a barista, or a pipefitter?), and, of course, disability penalties.
