Whilst cycling in Connemara, it was a great treat to see an abundance of Pipewort in several of their beautiful clear loughs. #wildflowerhour

Was passing the locus classicus for Pipewort Eriocaulon aquaticum on Skye so popped in to take a look. Lots growing in the pool but the yellow mass in the photo below appears to be uprooted plants growing happily together in a tangled mass. Quite extraordinary!

It was such a pleasure to photograph the rare Pipewort wildflower in the heart of Connemara, at the edge of a bog pool. Its little spherical head mesmerising when viewed from the top! @wildflowerhour.bsky.social @peatlandecr.bsky.social @communitywetlands.bsky.social @tocharstories.bsky.social

More really wonderful plants from Ireland. Birds Nest Orchid and Yellow Birds Nest distracting us from bryos whilst out with the BBS. Pipewort was as beautiful as I'd imagined 😍 and Fringed Sandwort (the Irish endemic subspecies hibernica) from Ben Bulben #wildflowerhour @bsbiireland.bsky.social

Happy Saturday! Today we have a photo of a water plant called a Eriocaulon aqiatocum commonly known as a pipewort. These are popping up along the lake in shallow water. Enjoy!

Did you see any Water lobelia (Lobelia dortmanna)? Quite a lot flowering at Connemara lake margins along with Pipewort at the moment, lovely delicate flowers

By the start of August I was running out of time before moving back South and new plants to see, so my final multi-day trip of the year led me to Skye, with a mix of species of day one including Alpine Rock-cress (Arabis alpina), Pipewort (Eriocaulon aquaticum) and Early Orache (Atriplex praecox).

Piper Erio, my water spirit (aka Water Genasi) Lunar Sorcerer! I played her recently in a 2-shot!

She's sweet, curious, & loves human culture. She only gets salty when she sees the gnome who stole her original name! She carries a lot of knickknacks in her watery body.

Made from what’s left, but never leftover. This tiny soft sculpture gives new life to every last piece, keeping waste out of landfills and beauty in the world 💚
