Gets a little over a foot tall, maybe two feet wide, and is a host plant for a couple butterfly species. Just about the perfect landscape backbone plant.

Hey #Bugsky! Look what Native Plant Guy found in the garden! I don’t know my local species well enough to know if this is a standard species or if it’s got the pink grasshopper mutation. Input appreciated!

We also have 23 invertebrate species I’ve been able to identify, 6 mammals, 28 birds, and 41 native plant species that we didn’t plant ourselves.

Which would be great except that this is a shortgrass prairie/pinyon-juniper savannah, goddamnit, and there ought to be SO MANY MORE.
