ok i have an idea: i use playerctl to drive my status bar, so if you had a headless linux server / your normal computer running spotify and playerctl, you could have a script that does something when the piped playerctl output changes, and not have any polling

ok i have an idea: i use playerctl to drive my status bar, so if you had a headless linux server / your normal computer running spotify and playerctl, you could have a script that does something when the piped playerctl output changes, and not have any polling

Arch with KDE Simple and it just works!
And for what I've been cooking; VLC didn't play nice with global F13+ hotkeys so I used the KDE shortcut setting to a run a "playerctl pause VCL" command when I press F23

most music players will support this, anything that does synced playback status could be run and hooked into with playerctl, unless you are only doing like local file playback

finally replaced playerctl with a script that makes my media keys only act on shit with skip/back buttons and it's just perfect. no more chrome fucking me

I have thought about writing a scrobbler daemon that reads data off of MPRIS, and I was thinking that it probably would need to interface directly with dbus and I'd have to learn how that worked, but I am increasingly convinced this could just farm out of everything to playerctl.

073/128 PipeWire and WirePlumber are in the published package set. So are playerctl and pavucontrol. Sound deserves its own paragraph because a workstation with a gorgeous wallpaper and unusable audio is still a workstation with unusable audio.

I tend to pronounce "control" for these /usr/bin/*ctl's. systemctl, hostnamectl, resolvectl, networkctl, busctl, loginctl, pactl, playerctl, machinectl, timedatectl, wayvncctl, bluetoothctl, iwctl, so many others fine controllers.

Se suas teclas multimídia (play, pause, next, previous, mute etc.) não funcionam, pode ser que o pacote "playerctl" não esteja instalado.
Para instalar no Debian: sudo apt playerctl
Fiquei meses com este problema até (re)descobrir uma anotação minha, com esse detalhe […]

Se suas teclas multimídia (play, pause, next, previous, mute etc.) não funcionam, pode ser que o pacote "playerctl" não esteja instalado.
Para instalar no Debian: sudo apt playerctl
