Fossil records discovered by scientists in a recent Cave indicate that "Half-Life 3", had it survived the early Pleistocene, would have featured Gordon Freeman "[...]on the moon, in tactical turn-based combat with amazing orchestral soundtrack." No samples have been found fully intact.

Someone posted on a discussion board thread about Pleistocene footprints in an area I don’t think we have a very good land fossil record from for that period, which is pretty exciting.

I have always felt that Hookland’s Ghost bear was a memory of the Pleistocene cave bear but, as the distinguished Dr Benn says, a memory from 24,000 years ago is a notion too fanciful even for Hookland. I can’t help but speculate though. The reported size of the ghost bear resembles Ursus spelaeus

Did you know: genus Cucurbita plants (pumpkins and gourds) emerged around 63 million years ago, alongside Pleistocene megafauna like mastodons. 🎃🎃🎃🧪

No, the size decrease likely happened earlier in the Pleistocene. The 10 meter long ones lived in the Pliocene. Modeling suggests that Hydrodamalis could have gone extinct completely through overhunting of otters without early humans seeing or killing a single sea cow

And this matters because a systematic failure to recognize that Late Pleistocene megafauna are modern animals that lived in modern ecosystems has led to a failure to understand just how broken most ecosystems worldwide are (because we killed off irreplaceable components).

...it ends by killing a few ocean basins for a few hundred thousand years.
...It ends by gradually enhancing global silicate weathering until we return to the Pleistocene equilibrium, having skipped one full glacial cycle.

It is unclear we as a society make it much into that draw down.
