Pluriverse! Pluriverse! Yes!

We're getting really close to interop, and I think that's so good. I joined the @anew.social board because @quillmatiq.com and @snarfed.org think about this work so carefully at the social and culture levels as well as the tech ones. A delight to see the work blossom.
Introducing Bounce: a new tool that uses Bridgy Fed to migrate your social graph b/w ActivityPub and ATProto.

Yup, we built a service that moves your social graph *across* protocols.

And the best part? You get to keep *all* of your followers, along with many of your follows.

AT protocol doesn’t play zero-sum, winner-takes-all games.

“European X?”
No, European data sovereignty for all of x/y/z in amicable competition.

“Killer app?”
No, interoperable apps as the monopoly-killer.

“Everything-app?”
No, everything-account in a pluriverse of user-owned software.
"Why do people keep calling for a 'European X' or a 'European Instagram' when instead, by sharing infrastructure as we're doing with @eurosky.social, we could have 20 or 30 social networks?" — @seabass.bsky.social

Reading Pluriverse: A Post-Development Dictionary (2019), making notes as well:
Development shows unfair situations between North and South, but it can not be inconsiderably defined by dissimilar cultural or environmental conditions.
People get poorer, is in a system, and being planned.

Before colonization and Christianity, many cultures lived in a pluriverse, a world where many truths, gods, and ways of life coexisted.

Empire collapsed that into one “right” way.

But the pluriverse never died, it’s rising again through us.

My hope is that the almost complete shift to research organised by the notions of post-development, the pluriverse, extractivism, and narrow treatments of decoloniality will be a temporary 'turn' in the field. 3/5
