They've stopped letting us appeal! Consider an alternative to Spotify to ensure ease of listening

We have been trending in *all podcasts* on Pocketcasts the last couple of days. We are beating the major, major shows & institutions. That’ll teach people to let a bunch of autistics make comedy.

Pocketcasts put out 2024 statistics. @flophousepodcast.bsky.social still reigns supreme and the McElroys are still on there twice, but @worldsbeyondnumber.bsky.social and @greatesttrek.bsky.social are both new additions.

I agree with Andrew's entire thread. I've used Qobuz for music for several years and PocketCasts for podcasts since, Jesus, maybe since that app launched like 15 years ago?
As people are once again realising that Spotify is an awful company, thought I'd do a short thread of the things I use instead of it.
(As with Substack, I'm not judging you if you use it -- the world is *a lot* -- and no choices are perfectly ethical. But it's *better* if you don't).

Don't use Spotify at all if you can help it (Tidal or Qobuz are better for music, Pocketcasts for podcasts, both functionally and ethically) but if you do use it for podcasts please don't complain to the podcasters when stuff isn't there or is the wrong file. We know. We can't help you.
Got 10 more emails from Spotify this week saying episodes had been taken off the platform. Please do not use Spotify to listen to Centuries of Sound.
Listen in wherever you get podcasts, apart from Spotify, the show isn't on Spotify, it is not a good platform for creators.

Agree with this review. This episode of Amicus with @dahlialithwick.bsky.social is the single best, clearest, and most historically grounded discussion I've heard anywhere of what is happening in the US.

a cool thing that pocketcasts does is you can refresh a podcast and it will be like "found new episode!" and then it will not show you the new episode. i am going to shoot my cellular telephone with a gun
