How much fidelity do you need in comics? However much fidelity you need, is the answer. Sometimes that means spending 49 hours doing pointilism ink renders of an establishing shot of a cityscape at midnight.

Hey! I am an artist and go by the name Marmas. I am 30 years old and live in MN, I recently quit my job as a professional horticulturist and have decided to delve more into creating art. I enjoy making weird/quirky/creepy paintings/drawings. I would love to get to know the art community on bluesky!😁

To be fair, though, surely nobody was doing Pointilism when the paintbrush was first invented, right?

Well, that's exactly my point. Maybe pointilism is a poor example, but my point is that we can't judge the final utility by the initial utility, because the initial utility is always, definitionally, behind the final utility.

One of the big dogs of pointilism looks exactly as tortured as you'd expect a guy would be if he had to spend 90% of his day meticulously arranging colorful dots into a coherent image

you have a unique and awesome style in an evolved form of pointilism art and it slaps! it *is* technically impressive for you to go Pixel by Pixel to make sure that Everything Is Where It Should Be. I know i'd never have the patience for that! and it proves "simple" art can still be adult in nature!
