Police Chief Cam McBride emphasized the importance of the HTRT in connecting survivors with support services and aiding investigations. Justice Minister Tim McLeod highlighted the provincial commitment of $160,000 as partnered funding but noted uncertainty about its continuation. The program aims to end cycles of abuse through education, immediate response, and long-term survivor support. Other organizations like Hope Restored also faced funding cuts, relying on provincial support temporarily. The Department of Justice Canada confirmed its funding is project-based and time-limited, leaving future sustainability uncertain.
