No bees…

No apple orchards in the Hudson Valley.

St Selby Gardens' Historic Spanish Point nails mildly-spooky: colour, plant-led theatre & strong conservation. Dim LEDs - light spill wrecks nocturnal polinators. Curation superb; logistcal roughness. https://baynews9.

It works really well to green up deserts. Good idea to help the polinators, too. They are a win-win.

Late blooming flowers help polinators eat up before winter. Less impressive than fat bear week; but fun to watch. Went through drive-thru that had russian sage. I think I saw a couple of bees 🐝 rummaging throughout the buds. 🌸

Buttonbush, Cephalanthus occidentalis. One of my favorite native shrubs. They're in the coffee family, Rubiaceae. It's easily identified by its unique round flowers and its glossy leaves. They attract a wide variety of polinators and the seeds are readily eaten by birds.

Zadenmengsel van de polinators. Zodat we al in het vroege voorjaar bloeiende planten hebben.

Lots of pollinators on this ivy.
Some appear to have sacs of pollen on their legs.
Is that correct ?

New zine 🤗 It's as many names to call my team at work that I could think of (without being mean)...
I keep a list & make a point of using a different one each time I message the group chat.
Their favourite so far? Jazz Cats.
Mine? Nectar Feeding Polinators.

To increase the good vibes quotient on the timeline, getting through shots I took yesterday on a bit of a nature walk

The polinators were out in force, and I got a lot of pretty lil buggers 😀

Aside from food production, food forests support biodiversity, improve soil health, conserve moisture, and provide habitats for polinators and other organisms. They also support livelihoods which makes them valuable to communities as well as the environment.

Orange hawkweed, Pilosella aurantica. A very attractive invasive species. They spread heavily both through seed and stolons, and can form monocultures. They do provide food for generalist polinators, like the small halictid bee visiting in the pictures. But native hawkweeds provide more.

I am continuing Solarpunk Art August. 😁
Day 18: “polinators”.
I painted the usual suspects: butterflies and bees.

Painted them on a different piece of paper and stuck them onto the flowers. I like the 3D effect.

currently in the city and can attest that the gardens and wild planting of obviously native vegetation for polinators at homes and on roadways is stunning 😍

I wrote a diagram language for planning/planting around trees. I use prairie restoration's presto tool to find native plants for my region/soil. Most of my designs have focused on rings that have staggered bloom cycles to feed polinators all season. Check out presto: www.prairieresto.com/presto/

Dog wanted to walk in the pasture this morning, so I got to check out other polinators enjoying the Canadian Goldenrod

I don't mind wasps at all when they're out here!
