Today, we raised the flag at #BurlON City Hall in recognition of World Polio Day.

Rotary International launched PolioPlus in 1985 and spearheaded the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1988 with the World Health Organization and UNICEF

Polio has popped up in a few countries since we (along with WHO, CDC, and UN) got so close to full eradication.

As a Rotarian, I care about our health. We can finish the job of eradicating polio if only we do not quit. Younger generations do not know about what life was like…living in an iron lung.

Collected purple crocus bulbs last night to plant in a nearby area. They will bloom in spring. They represent the purple dye used during Polio vaccination sessions. The work is funded by Rotary & the Gates Foundation. Slowly we are eradicating this terrible disease.
