a literal car dealer trying to sanction another country for wildfire smoke really gets at the essence of climate politics
NEW: Trump is now threatening to punish Canada for wildfire smoke blowing into the U.S., as a GOP senator intros a bill to sanction Canadian officials “responsible” for the fires driven by climate change.

“Insane," says one leading Canadian enviro group. www.huffpost.com/entry/bernie...
GOP Senator Calls For Stripping Visas From Canadian Officials Because Of Wildfires
“We will not tolerate this incompetence,” vowed Ohio Sen. Bernie Moreno, who may not understand how climate change works.

Climate change continues despite our electing climate change deniers
Ahhh - woke in the night to an unfamiliar sound, and woke again in the morning to hear it louder and steadier: rain, after two months without, blessed rain.

immigration politics are climate politics
As many experience lethal, unlivable heat, it's a good time to remember that there is no such thing as a climate refugee under the law.

Climate breakdown was not understood when the UN convention was written.

In the US, there is one way for extreme weather to be the basis for legal status: TPS.

I think it’s good politics to speak loudly and clearly about the climate crisis. Time to end the climate hushing

The oil industry buys off Congress. No action on climate.

The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns.

Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care.

The list goes on and on.

Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.

This week someone targeted my family for harm with a false report. We’re physically OK, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t harmed. I am beyond furious.

Whatever your politics, this is awful, wrong, and can never become normal.
A Terrible Thing Happened to My Family
Even in today's climate, there should be one fundamental principle everyone respects: whatever you think about someone in politics, you leave their kids alone.

Dear Republicans, guess who does believe in climate change?

California and Florida insurance companies. They don’t give a damn about your politics. Whether you claim to believe in climate change or not, we’re all in the same boat dealing with the consequences.

Across the Atlantic, high oil and gas prices are screwing up the politics of Europe’s climate policy, which will in turn screw up climate politics almost everywhere else.

The climate has ALREADY changed.

This is no longer about climate change.
It's about climate crisis.

David Wallace-Wells is the best climate journalist working today, arguably the best journalist period, and this is a fantastic summary of where things stand on climate change:
It Isn’t Just the U.S. The Whole World Has Soured on Climate Politics.
