There is beauty also on hazy days.

You can find #dandelions like this still now (!).
Reminder: this is no #pollen, this is #seed.

Wishing you a pleasant weekend!

Grey alder (lower right) has started to flower.

What means „ready to flower“?

The flower is mature enough to flower and release first pollen as soon as the conditions are favorable.
Macro shot: the covering scales are raised, the anthers become visible.

Currently you can observe leaf fall of #ginkgo.
The leaves are golden yellow.

Ginkgo biloba is a #livingfossil and has survived from the time of the dinosaurs until today in China. It is planted globally.

Enjoy the #sunrays!

Many plants, that flowered in october and november, faded flowering. Like here #rosemary (photo from yesterday).

Thanks to @marcuswadsak.bsky.social for the forecast concerning beautiful sunsets: definitively true.

We found thickened spikelets of #switchgrass (#Panicum sp.) in the end of November. Here you can see the purple anthers (=pollen sacks) in the middle after preparation at home.

Obviously, such a late flower did not work.

Status of early bloomers

The catkins of #hazel and #alder are closed. Those most developed are the catkins of Spaeth´s alder, that will flower as first species (first photo).
There is no measurable pollination.

The main pollination period of Spaeth´s #alder has started in the Christmas week as expected.

You can see the pollen bursting out of the catkins. Pollination of this plant is possible if temperatures are above 0 degrees Celsius.

Dear valued pollen audience,

Today a before/after comparison of fountain #grass (#Pennisetum sp.).
On the top flowering in the end of June 2024 and at the bottom now in November.
Some spikelets (=flower) are completely gone.

Did you ever see it?
