The U.S. is the only major economy where planet-warming pollution has increased dramatically in the last year.

NEW: For over a year, staff at Oklahoma’s regulatory agency built a case against the oil company with the state’s highest number of oil field pollution incidents and violations.

Instead of punishing the company, officials let it restart operations.

While the Trump admin weakens pollution protections, California is launching A SECOND methane-detecting satellite to find major pollution sources and get them fixed — protecting communities and combatting climate change.

🛰️ CalSMP’s program has already helped stop 50 major methane leaks.

There is *so* much less air pollution in big cities.
Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

One heck of a story about how oil companies face no consequences for their serious violations in Oklahoma.

This Day in Labor History: October 27, 1948. An air inversion trapped the pollution spewed out by U.S. Steel-owned factories in Donora, Pennsylvania. The Donora Fog killed 20 people and sickened 6000 others. Let's talk about this deadly legacy of industrial pollution. That photo was taken at noon!

Sadly, people are still dying from pollution from US Steel today
On this day in 1948, a temperature inversion over Donora, PA began trapping hydrogen fluoride emissions from the U.S. Steel Donora Zinc Works over the town. By the end of the week, the official death count of 20 misses an unknown number of additional deaths and injuries.

for vulnerable people in communities near the polluting infrastructure that BAAJA would make it easier to build. This is not hyperbole: Scientists attribute somewhere between 100,000 and 500,000 excess deaths per year to air pollution from fossil fuels. And not even all air pollution, just PM2.5,

Data centers, air pollution, death from air pollution, and the permitting reform bill: a dot-connecting thread: 👇
There's a grim undercurrent to discourse about BAAJA, the permitting bill the Senate will likely vote on in a few weeks. Writing about this makes me kinda queasy, but I think it's important so here goes. What good stuff the bill might do would come at the cost of increased risk of illness and death

Tall people are closer to the air pollution. That’s why they act like that.

The pollution throughout southwest Pennsylvania was legendary as the combination of the steel industry and the region’s hills and valleys meant incredible smoke. While Pittsburgh was nationally famous for its pollution, surrounding towns had similar problems.

The Pro-Pollution President strikes again.
Breaking News: The Trump administration is set to relax rules restricting the emission of methane, a gas considered to be a “super pollutant.”
E.P.A. to Loosen Methane Rules for Oil Firms
The Biden administration had sought to crack down on methane leaks, a big driver of climate change. Those rules are now being scaled back.

decade, and Trump's handlers are now apparently gutting methane rules.

Methane pollution has caused about half as much global warming to date as all carbon dioxide pollution since the Industrial Revolution.

If you've seen the ugliest vehicle ever made, that was Elon. Those videos showing obscene data center pollution? Also Elon. If you've seen starving African kids being turned away from shuttered aid distribution centers, that was Elon. A car burning on the side of the road? You guessed it
Talarico: "If you've seen an attack ad on your TV, that was Elon. If you've gotten lies in your mailbox, that was Elon. If you've received a text message saying scary things about me with scary black and white photos. That was Elon too."

Air pollution. I grew up frequently unable to breathe because of air pollution both outside from cars and inside from smoking.

Also asthma treatments.
