Pink worm against black background laid out almost in a pretzel-like shape. The segments are elongated giving the worm an appearance similar to a bamboo-shoot.

Here's something unusual: a polychaete larva with two tails? One episphere, three eyes instead of four, and two perfectly formed trunks. But alas, no mouth, so it can't feed. Its sibs have already metamorphosed. Spiralian dev biologists: how is this even possible?

They're perfectly formed with all the bristles an the ciliated intestines. The larva has left and right clusters of larval chaetae (long bristles) emerging from chaetal pouches. Species is Streblospio benedicti, lab-reared larva.

海況が落ち着いたのでプランクトン採集が行われました。持ち帰ったサンプルを調査したところ、ゴカイの仲間が吻を伸ばしてカイアシ類を捕食している様子を観察することができたようです。

Today, the sea conditions calmed down, so plankton sampling was conducted. Upon examining the samples brought back, it seems they were able to observe a polychaete extending its proboscis to prey on a copepod.
