You can incorporate stuff like fur into bodies nicely by dynameshing with polypaint turned off to retain the polygroups before zremeshing down and smoothing the transition areas a bit

if I am ever forced back to freelance illustration I'm going to use so much 3d in my workflow, for real. mindlessly smooshing around some forms, throwing polypaint on it and smooshing even more feels way too good.

My inspiration for this colour pallet was from deep sea creatures like the anglerfish, gulper eel, goblin sharks and things like crustaceans for the segmented panels.
muted, pale tones to give it a more realistic look!
