I just got a Breville PolyScience the Control Freak for Christmas. First test was vanilla ice cream.
I put all of the ingredients in pot (cream, milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla beans, etc), heated it up to 178F while whisking, removed it from the heat, and that was that. No tempering, no overcooking.

Man I was a Breville evangelist before but with how kindly and speedily they handled stuff with our broken Joule (out of warranty and everything) I'm now like... a Breville bishop or something?

Induction cooktops are a great improvement.
I've had a cheap movable one for a decade or so. However the PolyScience / Breville Control °Freak looks like a tempting upgrade. The temperature range, timer flexibility and the precision are nice, but it is an expensive toy.

I got it years ago. I was just PolyScience and not Breville. It’s also very small and is only hand held without a stand. A lot cheaper.

Hopefully there is a Breville polyscience on the shelf and someone will use it and beat other contestants due to it.

when "home cooks" on youtube pull out the $1500 Breville PolyScience induction burner, that's when i know they're no longer speaking to the layperson

I've been using a PolyScience creative series for years. No apps whatsoever. They used to carry it at William-Sonoma.
It was highly rated back in the day before all these app based ones came out.
