Also did a second layer of polyurethane on the banister because I didn’t like how it wasn’t consistent. Looks much better now.

Cow leather is extremely polluting. Its treatment requires heavy metals and a ton of water that only sometimes is properly treated. Some environmental studies conclude it might be as bad as polyurethane (plastic), with the caveat that it also causes deaths of animals. Alternatives exist!

I also tried some resin powder to see if that worked, I wanted to find an easier material to work with then polyurethane resin, but it was brittle given how relatively thin the walls were and shattered. It's a shame because the finish was fantastic, no bubbles and the details were so crisp!
