This 1970 pic taken by Manny Gerard served as the visual inspiration for my upcoming short story "Last Pocket," to be published by Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine in March/April 2027. The poolhall is on the corner of 150th and Amsterdam and most of the action takes place in that Harlem hood

I was at a rural poolhall chatting with the bartender with a spider tattooed on his face and we agreed that the main value of Applebees is that they will serve you at 930pm on a Tuesday when everything else is closed.

And the people watching at the Applebees bar is hilarious

Poolhall Junkies is fun if you don’t think too hard. SLC Punk is fantastic, an absolute work of art. There’s a sequel I pretend doesn’t exist.

I recommend Poolhall Junkies! Or the Quebec film Les Furies (if you’re OK with subtitles)
Or or (if you haven’t seen it) SLC Punk

How about "coin game" or "poolhall thrill" gamehistory.org/a-video-game...

Before they knew to call them "video games," writers had to resort to all kinds of colorful descriptions.

The disclosure agreement mentions that you may be submitting information about your home, chores, personal products, audio conversations, metadata, personal health, body movements- basically *everything* about your space going to this company- Poolhall -as a massive personal data broker.

PoolHall seems to be a social media management company trying to make itself into a 5-Minute Craft style content farm using creators (and probably soon, AI videos of fake creators) to farm ad revenue and affiliate clicks on platforms like TikTok.

It's disgusting. Selling your life to sell you slop

Christopher Walken in Poolhall Junkies. Both in this scene and the bathroom scene.

“I’m a millionaire! That’s the difference. I lose 80, I get another 80.”

We'd just go to the back of the corner bar pay the guy he knew we 13 &14 yr old it was early 60s no one cared as long as you cleaned up afterwards 🥰. Just like the poolhall you had to be 16 but we were 14 , He'd let us clean the tables when he closed so he didn't break the law charge minors 🥰

Timeless, speakeasy-meets-neighborhood-hangout vibe. Descending into a subterranean, dimly lit pool hall that has been around since 1944 is the perfect setting for relaxing, knocking around a few games, and soaking in that authentic old-school atmosphere.🎱

All else aside, they lived in rooms behind the bar/restaurant/liquor store/poolhall. Getting up and going to work was literally going into the other room...
