We had nearly 1,000 trick or treaters last night. The population of our town is 5,000. Maine is just different.

Theses on Michigan

1) Jews are 1% of Michigan’s population; Muslims are 2.5%

2) Both groups will probably vote for El-Sayed tomorrow in large majorities (>65%)

3) the “discourse” that appears on the surface to be “about” them is therefore better understood as being about the majority population

Instead, in Ohio we have a law mandating only one polling place per county, regardless of population.

greater los angeles *alone* contains 5% of the nation’s population
No, what I actually say is that the experience of finding housing in the urban core of several metropolitan regions that, generously, contain 5% of the nation’s population, is not reflective of the housing experience of the other 315 million Americans.
the stancilists have corncobbed themselves into housing crisis denialism, which is uh not great

North and South America population density with obtuse scalene triangles.

The example I always go to is London (population 9.1 million) vs Virginia (population 8.9 million).

The London mayoral election caps campaign spending per candidate at roughly $1 million (£760,000).

In the 2021 VA governor election, the *lesser*-spending candidate spent $64 million.

6/6: Democrats could flip governors or legislatures to gain unified control in AZ, MI, MN, NV, PA, VT, & WI.

Current Dem “trifecta” states cover 39% of the 50-state population. GOP trifectas cover 42%.

Dems could surpass 50% for the first time since the 1978 elections—and the GOP could drop to 24%

White people make up about 60% of the total population and made up 71% of voters in 2024.

This is what voter suppression looks like. Ohio Republicans passed a law allowing only ONE early vote location per county, no matter the county size or population. Shoutout to the people that waited in line for hours to vote.

Vote for Amy Acton and Sherrod Brown Ohio, let’s have a Blue Wave!

I may be new to Lethbridge, but I've been here long enough to know that the (artsy, progressive, young) urban population and the (devoutly religious, older, extreme conservative) rural population don't have a ton in common, despite what the UCP-appointed panelists say.
I’m planning to spend time tonight poring over the advisory panel’s recommendations for Alberta’s new electoral boundaries.

It was a fraught process and a thick report, but the most egregious change is the splitting up of Lethbridge into sprawling urban-rural ridings. Nathan Neudorf got his wish.

Westchester, population 1 million, where the newspaper is down to a half-dozen reporters.
It's days like this where I think about how decimated Westchester Co's only county-wide newspaper (Lohud/The Journal News) has become as a result of voids left by voluntary severance offers and layoffs.

The Journal News is where I got my first daily newspaper job as a reporter 10 years ago 1/2
My office is monitoring this issue with scanners in Westchester and is in touch with the state and local Boards of Elections as they work on a solution.

Westchester voters can still safely fill out and turn in their ballots at their polling locations. Your votes will count.

I genuinely believe that in any moderate center of population I should never be more than 15 minutes away from state-supplied rice and beans
We're burying the lede here: 39% of Democrats support public ownership and operation of *restaurants*.
"A poll I recently commissioned from the Center for Strategic Politics found that a supermajority of Democratic voters support public ownership and operation of healthcare and the electrical grid." peoplespolicyproject.org/2026/10/30/p...

By these measures most of the UK population hasn’t contributed to the UK

There should be a law requiring a number of polling places that reflects the local population. My wait for early voting was about 20 seconds.

It would take several decades, but we would better control the fuckwit population this way if they could no longer breed. 😅
October 31, 2026 at 7:36 PM
oh, they won’t be at EVERY polling place; just where they dislike the population.
