The Porthcurno Telegraph Museum is a fascinating place on the development of the subject and also a landing site for some cables. The beach had hidden flamethrowers for defence in WWII.

If you have time, and like weird museums, the Porthcurno Telegraph Museum is spectacular.

I didn’t know it was closed.
Presumably because it’s so tricky to get down to it, except when it’s accessible from Porthcurno at this type of low spring tide.
I’ve only been on it a couple of times and it was a bit of a struggle.
But worth it.
It’s a naturist beach 😎

During the early 20thc, artist Rowena Cade (1893–1983) started to create the open air Minack Theatre, Porthcurno, on the Cornish cliffs, UK, with the help of her gardener Billy and only hand tools. She continued to build into her last years #WomensArt

Around 95% of all international internet traffic runs through cables on the ocean floor, and a huge chunk trace back to the same place: Porthcurno, Cornwall. A village most people, including most Brits, have probably never heard of.

We’re doing a Cornwall.

That and market efficiency. It doesn't seem likely that a 5% differential Devon and Cornwall would change someone's pre-existing desire to visit Porthcurno; but regardless, I can't see prices moving, because e.g. any holiday let is already trying to set highest possible price to maximise occupancy

The bus ride to Porthcurno is our favourite. Standing stones in fields and tucked away places.

I noted then (as I still do) that the telegraph system and the steam ship became the new means of projecting agency over distance for a different model of empire.
