It’s a sign of danger because it signals that humanity may be approaching a tipping point in the climate which could eventually collapse the #AMOC and that would trigger worldwide consequences. I wrote and article and made a video. I’ll post the link in the comments… #climatechange #climate #STEM

Anyways for that post-collapse sci-fi project I'm probably going to include an aside about how misguided attempts at geoengineering to stop climate change accelerated and worsened the collapse of the AMOC (thus turning large swathes of Europe into dry, frozen tundra)

Here's my post on the new #amoc #climatescience study that cuts against the much-pushed narrative that a #amoc #colllapse is looming. My advice, similar to @rahmstorf.bsky.social, is to focus on the basics that are clear and avoid the #whiplasheffect I've been writing about since 2008. 1/

Danke! Genau so meinte ich das auch. Es geht mir bei diesem Post (und bei dem ähnlichen vorige Woche) nicht darum, junge Menschen für ihr Nichtwissen zu kritisieren. Ich erwarte auch nicht, dass der ganze Hörsaal wissen sollte, was 'AMOC' ist. Es zeigt nur, wie groß dieser Teil unseres Problems ist.
