So it's been a decade and a half since he started, and in that time @histphilosophy.bsky.social has made it from the pre-Socratics into the seventeenth century. Only three-ish centuries to go, and I find myself thinking, "He's going to pull it off. The mad bastard is actually going to pull it off."

Sorry, arrived late to this.... Has someone pointed out yet that Socrates "an unexamined life is not worth living" kind of belies his assertion that introspection only started in the last 100 years? And if so was his response to quote obviously googled pre-Socratics? Cause that would be cool.

Saw The Beatles shitpost going around and realized that I literally know more about ancient Greek philosophy than I do about that band, mainly as a consequence of being musically raised by de facto 1977-year-zeroists. I was introed to Bowie & Lou, but The Beatles are like pre-Socratics to me lol.

Saw The Beatles shitpost going around and realized that I literally know more about ancient Greek philosophy than I do about that band, mainly as a consequence of being musically raised by de facto 1977-year-zeroists. I was introed to Bowie & Lou, but The Beatles are like pre-Socratics to me lol.
Will Stancil huffing at hurricane volume that his favorite software package thinks and acts and feels isn't going to settle a question that's been live since the Pre-Socratics. But it'll sure grease the way for people he shouldn't trust put dangerous tools to bad ends.

Diving back into this book for the 3rd time (at least). It set me off into the pre-Socratics & Ionian science in the 1st place, a couple years ago. I guess I'm sort of addicted to it.

Oh, it is much older. It goes back to the pre-socratics. I am squaring this in the context of the people who saw modernity and made a stake on what would be required of democratic citizenship to survive it without barbarism and savagery.

I'm reading Aristotle's Metaphysics for the upcoming Catherine Project group, and I must say, his Book I review of pre-socratics is... pretty snide.
