Ekko's embarrassing dream about physalis and the Pre-Raphaelites. He feels awkward telling Jinx about it. Because she wants to be a knight in those dreams too.

Me as St George, slaying a chocolate dragon.

This is in the mode of the pre-raphaelites. It illustrates the argument that #pixelart is NOT a style like "realism", "8bit era art" or "anime", but rather a medium.

Like mosaic or embroidery.

'Contemplation.' (1911) Frederick Cayley Robinson’s pictures are almost always of people, occupiers of a silent, timeless, mysterious world, there are symbolic allusions but no clear cut narrative; his work brings to mind the early work of the Pre-Raphaelites.

Averil Burleigh was initially influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and drawn to Mediaeval subjects; in the 1930s she became known for her pictures in tempera. This work (c1940) by her husband Charles shows her painting at their home 7, Wilbury Crescent in London.

At some point I need to work through my "Pre-Raphaelites, actually cringe or just oversaturated because every teenage girl went through that phase?" questions.

I am leaning toward a bit of both.

The early Italian Renaissance painters, together with the Pre-Raphaelites shaped Victor Hume Moody's work which can be stylish and beautifully observed with a thoughtful narrative. He deserves a wider and more appreciative public. This self-portrait dates from around 1935.
