Simultaneous Quantitation of Multiple Biological Thiols Using Reactive Ionization and Derivatization with Charged Mass Tags
The biologically important thiols (cysteine, homocysteine, N-acetyl cysteine, and glutathione) are key species in redox homeostasis, and there is a clinical need to measure them rapidly, accurately, and simultaneously at low levels in complex biofluids. The solution to the challenge presented here is based on a new derivatizing reagent that combines a thiol-selective unit to optimize the chemical transformation and a precharged pyridinium unit chosen to maximize sensitivity in mass spectrometry. Derivatization is performed simultaneously with ionization (“reactive ionization”), and mass spectrometry is used to record and characterize the thiol reaction products. The method is applicable over the concentration range from 1 μM to 10 mM and is demonstrated for 25 blood serum, 1 plasma, and 3 types of tissue samples. The experiment is characterized by limited sample preparation (<4 min) and short analysis time (<1 min). High precision and accuracy (both better than 8%) are validated using independent HPLC-MS analysis. Cystine–cysteine redox homeostasis can be monitored by introducing an additional reduction step, and the accuracy and precision of these results are also validated by HPLC-MS.

I can buy a replacement unit for $700. I can put it in myself with the help of a friend to do the lifting. Problem comes from "charging" the system. It is precharged, but needs to be partially evacuated and additional refrigerant added. Can't do that yourself, by law. Must have a license.

You need extra freon to make up for the line set and that's illegal to handle without an EPA license. Mr Cool has precharged linesets, no vacuum pump and no additional freon needed.

Mr Cool has a system that is easy and DYI to install. Honestly, you can't install any of the other brands on your own. You need an EPA license to handle freon. Mr Cool comes with precharged linesets so just connect and turn on.

I'm using cheap NiMH cells from usually the Aldi. They come precharged and will happily run clocks and alarms around the place for years.
Not using any particular charger either, mostly the generic unit from the Aldi, or one of the USB-powered ones I got off Amazon. Eneloop is not required :)

The more generic ones are close to $300 so if I go this way it seems to make sense to go with the Progressive.

Yes this comes with a line set cut to your specified length and already connected to the outdoor unit. They've precharged it with enough refrigerant to fill the indoor mini split perfectly so you just hand tighten the lines and you're done. No vacuum pump or pressure gauges needed!

On the outside I had to hand tighten the line set together. This is the killer feature of the airspool to me. The lines are precharged and you don't need any tools to connect them. I was skeptical, but it really is this easy! You can even unscrew them and move it to a new location without leaking!!!
