I recall receiving an email from an aggrieved reader about the poor grammar in one of the books we published.

I asked the reader to be more specific than "poor grammar," and I got an earful about sentences beginning with "And" or "But" or concluding with prepositions.

Prepositions like...

is.
I'm gonna tell you a little secret about copyediting.

Shhhh.

A solid 25 percent of copyediting is helping writers not to get kvetched at by people who like to kvetch at writers over picayune shit.
