You definitely do lol. Honestly your printmaking is so inspiring to me - a long time ago I was a printmaking major and did a lot of screenprinting, but long story short i changed to fibers and now i dont do art LOL. But seeing printmakers always inspires me to do art again.

He specialized in etching, executing prints distinguished for their liveliness, inventiveness, and atmospheric effects. Della Bella was extremely prolific, producing over 1,000 prints, in which he treated a wide range of subjects—festivals, battles, gardens, operas, ornament. Here he depicts a family of four satyrs out for a leisurely walk in the forest. The mother satyr supports her infant son, who contentedly rides a goat like it’s a latter-day stroller. The baby grasps a small stick as though he were leading the animal. They are followed by the father who carries a basket of grapes on his head. We imagine the family will feast on these fruits and make them into wine to the accompaniment of music from the pipes the father carries at his side. An adorably chubby toddler satyr brings up the rear of the procession, carrying grasses with which he feeds his goat.

The Christian sacrament of the Eucharist is traced to the Last Supper, when Christ said of the wine, “This is my blood.” For artists, the scene was full of both symbolic and narrative potential. Albrecht Dürer created a compact, vertical composition that focuses on the closeness of the disciples and the moment, wine flowing, when Christ reveals his fate. Dürer’s ingenious woodcut technique includes the creation of a halo made from parallel lines around Christ’s head that continue outward to define the shadow of the vaulted room. This print depicts the apostles dining on a humble but sturdy refectory table. Dürer included the date of the print on the middle trestle, a location often reserved for heraldry on more lavish tables.

Why would one of the greatest printmakers in history open a series on the Passion of Christ not with a dramatic scene of suffering, but with a quiet, almost intimate confrontation between Christ and a kneeling soldier? This is a woodcut by Albrecht Dürer, made in Germany between approximately 1497 and 1510, and it served as the title page for his celebrated Large Passion series. Christ sits at the right, crowned with thorns and haloed with radiating lines, his near-naked body turned toward a soldier kneeling at the left who holds a tall lance-like reed scepter and a bundle of whips, while the instruments of the Passion, including ropes and a scourge, lie scattered on the ground between them. Dürer's command of the woodcut medium is at its most concentrated here, using dense cross-hatching and precise line work to render flesh, fabric, and cloud with an expressive power that set a new standard for printmaking in northern Europe and shaped how images of Christ's suffering would be depicted for generations.

Things you might not know about me. I’m also a printmaker. I use plastic that can’t be recycled to make etching plates, and paper that was going in a bin, to make drypoint prints. Here’s the latest on 85 year old paper from a book that fell apart.
