As you can see, this is an eccentric way of arguing for a conclusion - daydreaming as a method - but that's the point! If we want to fight against tedious & dispiriting ideologies of mediocrity, which every day promote money, prestige, naive hedonism & productivism, we have to do something offbeat.

"productivism" as you call it is not the only form of hard work.

preventing & adapting to climate change is actually going to need a great deal of work and effort: it will require building flood defences, replanting forests, adapting our agriculture & totally overhauling the way we produce energy!

The issue of work does not even touch the real issue, which is a change of power relations, the end of the master-vassal relationship.
This productivism is fully alive within Marxism, for example in Mathew Huber, who is a very bad theorist (cf. his Climate change is class war).

If we want to keep this planet inhabitable - doubtful - there is one thing we need to rid off and that is productivism. Read Marx and reach the conclusion that communism is an exhausting affair. This Soviet bullshit of 'the smoke from our chimneys smells better than the incense of perfume.' Etc.

It does also coincide though with a belief in quite a lot of modern development economics that 'productivism' is bad, which has also damaged the economic prospect of poorer economies.

In this week's Questions with, James Palmer discusses his book Power plants, bioenergy debates, ecological Marxism and the tyranny of sustainability.

If I could I would, but we can't all do that.

I am not certain I understand, I never spoke of thinking the world better without humans? I don't think that at all actually.
I criticized a specific mindset of productivism, capitalism, and ableism.

It is good for you. We can't all afford to do that.
