can i suggest the experimental math curriculum i learned on as a kid? The archived materials, including worksheets and stuff, are all available on the web. Very focused on giving kids number sense and set theory and making math accessible:

I was taught using the CSMP methodology as a kid, and that's still available online. I'm not a maths person these days (i hit a wall myself, later in life) but it gave me a really solid grounding that has helped me my whole life. Highly recommend pointing parents of small kids at it!
