"The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls..."

After Ecclesiasticus, we get a bunch of top line "minor" prophets. I'm ready. 🕯

The Bible spent centuries warning Christians about false prophets, and MAGA took one look at a convicted felon selling Bibles and said, "That's our Messiah."

I do think we've lost a good concept of how important but deeply annoying The Prophets were to live with. Heschel's The Prophets gets at this. Prophets were the most morally absolute people around, and importantly they were seen as a useful type to have not a virtuous person to perfectly emulate

Hear ye, hear ye. The prophets have spoken friends. The Dragon's return is nigh.

it feels weird to say out loud but im pretty sure we are fucking prophets
We who are endowed through madness with capacities of perception to see beyond what sane people can see & go where they cannot are an integral part of humanity it needs to survive. Yet this society chokes our every breath from our disabled bodies. @metroplex.northsky.social @tichatnwa.bsky.social
I will always fight for the mad, there's too much at stake not to. My survival. Humanity's fate. You cannot be free to express who you are as fully human while you brutalize & ostracize those who express humanity outside the constrictions of the norm of sanity, sane people.

So poof, have Sisko the Emmisary emerge bodily on the station (at the Temple to the prophets, ideally). Then he realizes "the Prophets just saved my life, they gave my life back". Just as the prophecy foretold. Because the Prophets are outside of time, and the prophecy never said WHEN.

Evangelicals are following false prophets

Paimon keeping Stolas isolated because the prophecies said that he would break thousands of hearts and Paimon thought that was literal and that Stolas was going to be a powerful demon that threatened his place as king

And the prophets are just like

No he’s going to be pretty

(Of course, it gets even more muddled as the show will firmly come done on the side of prophets and temples and devine destiny)
November 1, 2026 at 5:12 PM
Well, as one of them admits, religion is always about the prophets.

Early in DS9 we encounter the prophecy of the emmisary. The Emmissary of the Prophets would be the first person to discover their Celestial Temple, and the Prophets would "return the Emmisary's life to them".

Benjamin Sisko and Jadzia Dax are the first to discover the wormhole (on screen).

The legendary Nile Rodgers on production 🙌🏾

🗣You pay the prophets to justify your reasons, I heard your promise, but I don't believe it....
